For many schools, PRN Nursing Consultants is a cost-effective alternative that helps you ensure you’re safely and appropriately meeting the health needs of your students, reducing potential risk, and ensuring compliance.
As school district budgets shrink, the number of school nurses and public health nurses is on the decline. More and more students are coming to school with chronic conditions, such as asthma, diabetes, seizures disorders and severe allergies. Schools assume liability when injury or illness occurs that could have been prevented but education budgets are limited and that’s a real issue that’s putting a lot of Administrators in a difficult position.
While most everyone agrees that having a school nurse in every school, every day is ideal, it is not our current reality. How can schools address the health and safety needs of students when they are not in a position to hire a school nurse, whether it is on a full-time or part time basis?
School Nursing does not have to be an “all or nothing” proposition for schools – especially smaller or rural schools. We can help schools by providing solutions and services that can be tailored to a School’s specific needs.
PRN Nursing Consultants was founded in 2012 by Deborah Velasco RN,BSN, PHN, M.Ed and California Credentialed School Nurse to serve our communities and schools. School Health- It’s all we do.
